Syracuse lacrosse has existed for 100 years and four coaches have taken the helm for the Orange during the last century. Laurie Cox (1916-30) started the program while Roy Simmons Sr. (1931-1970), Roy Simmons Jr. (1971-1998) and John Desko (1999-present) have built on Cox’s foundation. Since 1983, the Orange has won 11 NCAA national championships while another is not recognized by the NCAA. The Orange is amid a six-year championship drought, the longest in 33 years. Check out each head coach’s tenure.
