Hip-hop artist SahBabii to headline UU Bandersnatch concert
Hip-hop artist SahBabii will headline this year’s University Union Bandersnatch concert, UU announced Monday afternoon. Melii will open the show and rapper Valee is also scheduled to perform.
The concert will take place on Nov. 14 at 8 p.m., with doors opening 45 minutes before the show. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. on Oct. 30 at the Schine Box Office. Tickets are $5 for Syracuse University and SUNY-ESF students, $10 for faculty and staff and $15 for the general public.
Headliner SahBabii, born Saaheem Valdery, is a 21-year-old hip-hop artist from Atlanta. His popular song “Pull Up Wit Ah Stick” features Loso Loaded and has been remixed by artists such as Fetty Wap, Wiz Khalifa and T-Pain. This propelled SahBabii to earn a No. 8 spot on Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart in July 2017.
Other hits by SahBabii include his track “Outstanding” with 21 Savage. He recently released an album, “Squidtastic,” and is currently promoting it on his international tour.
Opening the concert will be Melii, a 20 year-old Harlem-based rapper. Her career kicked off after her remix of Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” went viral, showcasing Melii’s musical creativity. Her single, “No Simple Chick,” has more than 80,000 plays on SoundCloud.
Rounding out the lineup is Chicago-based rapper Valee. He started gaining popularity after his mixtape “1988” led to a record with Kanye West’s music label, GOOD Music. Valee has released five other projects, with the most recent being an EP earlier this spring titled “GOOD Job, You Found Me.” His single “Womp Womp” has been streamed more than 11 million times on Spotify.
