Syracuse edge rusher Fadil Diggs has earned the latest Bronko Nagurski Award for the National Defensive Player of the Week. Diggs recorded two sacks in SU’s win over then-No. 25 UNLV. Diggs also earned Defensive Lineman of the Week honors for the Atlantic Coast Conference.
He recorded six total tackles, including two pivotal plays in overtime against the Rebels. The redshirt senior sacked quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams on third-and-4 for a three-yard loss to force a field goal.
Through five games with the Orange, the Texas A&M transfer has already tied his season-high total for sacks with four and ranks fifth in the ACC with 0.80 sacks per game. Diggs also leads SU defensive linemen in tackles with 5.4 per game.
