A GoFundMe campaign to adopt a Central Park bench in Brianna Herrera’s name reached its goal in seven hours.

Brianna Herrera, a Syracuse University senior from New York City, died in a bus crash Thursday night. Her older brother Joshua Herrera started the campaign on Monday to raise $10,000 to adopt a bench in Central Park.

“This girl was fiercely loyal, unabashedly honest, and most importantly, incredibly kind,” Joshua wrote on the campaign page.

Many people left comments on the page saying they missed Herrera, and more than 300 donors raised over $12,000 as of Monday night.

The Adopt-a-Bench program was created in 1986 as a fund to maintain the more than 9,000 benches in the park, according to the Central Park’s website. The Central Park Conservancy installs a personalized plaque on a bench chosen by the donor.

 All donations that exceed the $10,000 mark will be used for Herrera’s student loans, according to the GoFundMe page.
