An assault occurred in the 800 block of Ackerman Avenue early Saturday morning, according to a campus-wide email sent by Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety.
Three students reported being approached and struck with a handgun by an unknown woman, according to a second email sent by DPS. The woman fled north toward Euclid Avenue.
All three students had minor injuries and declined medical treatment, according to the email. The woman was described as being in her early 20s with brown hair, a gray jacket and dark pants, per the email.
DPS and Syracuse Police Department officers were still investigating the scene at about 1 a.m. Saturday. The email said the assault was reported at about 12:40 a.m.
DPS officers at the scene said they could not comment on the incident, and referred questions to the department’s public information officer. SPD officers also declined to elaborate on the email sent by DPS.
