Former Iowa kicker Tripp Woody is transferring to Syracuse, he announced on social media Saturday. Woody didn’t attempt a kick for Iowa this season, but joins SU after it had its fair share of struggles in the kicking game this year.
Out of high school, Woody was the No. 20 ranked kicker in the 2023 class, according to 247Sports. He earned First Team All-State honors while playing for Charlotte Christian High School (NC).
Woody adds depth to SU’s kicking room, which currently includes Jackson Kennedy and Jadyn Oh. Brady Denaburg, SU’s starter at the beginning of the season, announced he was entering the transfer portal on Dec. 9. He later committed to Minnesota on Dec. 15.
As a group, Syracuse went 12-for-20 on field goals this season. Denaburg, Oh and Kennedy all attempted kicks at some point during the campaign.
